FEES

The hourly rate of $225 is set according to the recommendation of the British Columbia Psychological Association.

PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT - Dependent on the referral ($2800-$3000)

A comprehensive psychoeducational assessment that looks at cognitive (IQ) functioning, academic abilities, ADHD, emotional difficulties, social challenges, and/or behavioural concerns.

 

UPDATED PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT - Dependent on the referral ($2500-$3000)

An updated assessment may support program planning during transitional periods such as entering high school or entering a post secondary institution. To access post-secondary supports, an updated assessment that includes an adult cognitive assessment is required.

FEE FOR AN ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT - ($500-~$700)

A standardized academic assessment that breaks down individual academic skills in the areas of reading, writing, and math. An academic assessment can provide guidance on whether further assessment is required.

FEE FOR AN ADHD ASSESSMENT - ($700-~$1000)

This assessment includes a comprehensive interview that covers medical history, learning history, and current symptoms. The individual and someone in their life such as a parent, partner, or colleague will be asked to complete a series of rating scales. Note; Family doctors can assess for ADHD at no cost to the individual.

FEE FOR FILLING OUT MEDICAL FORMS, ATTENDING IEP MEETINGS etc., - Hourly rate of $235, as recommended by BCPA.

COVERAGE

If your workplace offers an extended health care plan such as Pacific Blue Cross, Sunlife, Manulife, Greenshields, and others, it may cover a portion of the fee. Check your coverage documents under "psychological services" or "other medical" expenses. In most plans, fees are "per person, per year," and some of the fees may be charged claimed for the parents if they are the primary person in attendance for the visit (i.e., intake and feedback visits).

 

An invoice will be provided for you to submit your claim.  

Please check with your plan administrator for details regarding your specific plan.

Psychological fees also qualify to be deducted as a medical expense on your personal income tax return. ("Medical service provided by a qualified medical practitioner"). If you have further questions, please consult with your tax advisor.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE & METHODS OF ACCEPTED PAYMENT

Payments for psychoeducational assessments may be paid in full on the first day of testing or in two installments with the first instalment due at the first testing session and the second instalment due at the debrief meeting, before receiving the report. Accepted payment methods are cheque or e-transfer.
 

CANCELLATION POLICY

For cancellations and appointment changes please provide a minimum of 48 hours advance notice. Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance and no shows are subject to a fee.
